On March 9, 2013, Kids First at Sunset View, a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation, will host its 16th Annual Dinner-Dance-Auction aboard the USS Midway to raise funds for Sunset View Elementary, a public school in the Point Loma neighborhood of San Diego. The DDA is perfect opportunity to gather with friends as a school community to celebrate and support our students. The festivities will include a live and silent auction, a hosted bar, a live band and dancing.

Sponsors and parent support help make our event a huge success each year. That support is combined with the businesses and individuals who donate items for our auction and help raise funds for our students. The hundreds of Sunset View families and friends that treasure this school are fiercely loyal to those businesses that partner with them. Combining our online auction with the Event’s Silent and Live auctions increases our exposure and offers businesses tangible marketing value. With our online auction site, we are able to extend the bidding to family, friends, and alumni who do not attend the Dinner-Dance-Auction, assuring maximum success and funds for our students. The Online Auction site features a direct URL link to your business with each auction item. 

As San Diego Unified continues to make bold and sometimes painful budget cuts, Sunset View Elementary strives to provide our students with every opportunity they deserve through our uniquely successful partnership between educators, parents, and the community. The funds we raise at our Dinner-Dance-Auction immediately work to improve the education of our students. Your contribution supports numerous programs, which the school district does not fund, such as:

• Additional teacher (to keep class size manageable) and teacher aides to provide more direct instruction time to young learners
• Computer lab instructor
• STEM - science, technology, engineering, and math enhancements to prepare children for the 21st century
• Visual and performing arts programs to bring culture to life at the earliest ages
• Library books and reading tutoring to develop a lifelong love of reading
